web 1.0 - web pages which were no interactive

broadband technology entered the United Kingdom providing people with faster download speeds and meant that more content could be delivered to users (Web 2.0 Tim o'reily 2004)

2005

YouTube is launched to the public becoming the world’s most popular video on demand website.
Web 2.0 provided people with faster Wi-Fi and meant that the internet could efficiently be used for advertisements
All of this could not be done however if no for technological convergence (where two different forms of technology come together to create something new like smartphones which are what are referred to as a "black box" technology (Jenkins theory, 2006.)
